UMS Faculty of Psychology Organizes 2026 Graduation: Reaffirming Commitment to Quality Graduates Amid Global Dynamics

Surakarta, April 1, 2026 – The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again held its Faculty Graduation ceremony in the Seminar Room, 5th Floor of Building L, UMS Postgraduate School, on Wednesday (4/1/2026). The event marked a historic milestone, celebrating the culmination of the students’ academic journeys.

This graduation is far more than just a ceremonial event; it serves as a strong reaffirmation of the faculty’s dedication to ensuring students graduate on time. Timely completion of studies is widely recognized as a key indicator of a degree program’s success in delivering high-quality education.

Through its latest cohort of both undergraduate (S-1) and master’s (S-2) alumni, UMS aims to meet the real-world demands of the industry. This aligns perfectly with the university’s “Graduate Profile” targets, ensuring that these newly minted professionals are fully equipped with the skills needed to immediately contribute to society.

The faculty-level ceremony proceeded solemnly and smoothly. It was kicked off by the Master of Ceremonies, Farah Hanifah Nuraini, an active student at the UMS Faculty of Psychology. Following an enthusiastic opening, the event transitioned seamlessly into the official proceedings to honor the graduates.

With this graduation, the UMS Faculty of Psychology hopes its alumni will continue to uphold the alma mater’s reputation, put their acquired knowledge into practice, and make a tangible impact on the wider community.

The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Lisnawati Ruhaena, M.Si., Psychologist, noted that this graduation is the direct result of the students’ perseverance and resilience in navigating a challenging academic landscape. She also emphasized that the faculty is continuously striving to elevate its educational standards. Currently, the Master’s in Psychology program is undergoing a field accreditation process, while the undergraduate program is gearing up to maintain its ‘Excellent’ accreditation status in 2027. She left the graduates with a powerful message:

“Looking at the current state of the world in 2026, which is fraught with global uncertainty, I urge our graduates to hold fast to the values of faith, piety, and trust in God. Let these serve as your moral compass as you navigate your roles in society,” expressed Lisna.

Furthermore, the ceremony featured a special guest: the Chairman of the Central Java branch of HIMPSI (Indonesian Psychological Association), Susatyo Yuwono, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist. He pointed out that today’s undergraduate and master’s graduates have the opportunity to pursue further education to become licensed professionals. Currently, the psychology profession serves as the vanguard for psychologists operating across Indonesia. The Central Java HIMPSI Chairman, affectionately known as Yoyok, stated:

Chairman of HIMPSI Central Java, Susatyo Yuwono, M.Si., Psychologist

“In today’s legally grounded world of psychology, a bachelor’s degree is just the first step; professional education is the master key. Becoming a psychologist is more than just a career choice—it is a professional responsibility to be on the front lines, providing legitimate assessment and intervention services that truly benefit the broader public,” Yoyok remarked.

Expanding on this, Yoyok explained that to foster professionalism, every practitioner in the field is encouraged to join HIMPSI via its official online platform, himpsi.or.id. This membership is an absolute prerequisite for graduates seeking to obtain an official practice license, while also streamlining the process through digitalization.

Parents of a Graduate

The parents of the graduates also shared some heartfelt words, offering enduring encouragement to help unlock the mysteries of tomorrow.

“Cooking greens with a beautiful red pomfret on the side. Today’s graduation is just the beginning of a brighter tomorrow’s ride,” remarked a graduate’s parent.

The top graduate of the UMS Master’s in Psychology program, Rahma Maulinda Dinawa Sasri—affectionately known as Rahma—shared her perspective:

“We all started with dreams, passion, and a sense of purpose. But as time goes on, that passion morphs into sheer stubbornness. And it is exactly that stubbornness that kept us from giving up and pushed us to finish our studies,” Rahma shared.
