Surakarta, March 30, 2026 – The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) once again hosted its Alumni Talks series, Episode III. The event took place in the Hybrid Room, 2nd Floor of the UMS Faculty of Psychology, on Monday (3/30/2026). This gathering served as a vital preparatory milestone for prospective graduates from both the Undergraduate and Master’s programs, giving them the opportunity to absorb invaluable insights and participate directly in the Alumni Talks workshop.
The Alumni Talks Episode III was far more than just a passive “sit and listen” session; it was a reaffirmation of the UMS Faculty of Psychology’s commitment to guiding its students. The goal is to ensure they gain a realistic picture of what the professional world actually entails. It also addressed the specific strategies and skills that must be cultivated well in advance. Producing high-quality graduates is the ultimate objective of the Faculty of Psychology, ensuring that this “Graduate Profile” translates into a tangible, positive impact for the alumni.
Through this event, UMS—particularly the Faculty of Psychology—strives to meet the demands of the Business and Industrial World (DUDI), which essentially means plunging directly into society. It ensures that the prospective graduates, who are set to officially graduate the day after tomorrow, are equipped with mature competencies and are fully ready to dive in and serve the community.

This Alumni Talks event featured two expert speakers who are proud alumni of UMS Psychology: Maulana Rizqi Wilananda, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist (HR at Nirmala Suri Hospital, Surakarta), and Dian Kusuma Hapsari, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist (Lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology, UNS). This inspiring discussion was guided by Arimby Dwindi Putri—the winner of Ajeng Kartini East Java 2024—who served as the moderator.
Through this Alumni Talks event, the UMS Faculty of Psychology hopes that the prospective graduates will continue to uphold the alma mater’s good reputation, apply the knowledge they have acquired, and make a real contribution to the broader public.

The Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Psychology, Audi Ahmad Rikardi, M.A., expressed his hope that through this event, every prospective graduate would understand the exact strategies and skills they need to prepare. He emphasized the critical importance of grasping these elements before fully entering the professional arena.
“Regarding what their future careers will look like, hopefully, this Alumni Talks event, which is now in its third run, will provide a broad overview for our prospective graduates,” Audi explained.

During the material presentation session, Maulana, affectionately known as Mas Maul, highlighted three crucial elements that young talents must master in the working world: hard skills, soft skills, and attitude.
“The very first thing you need to do is adapt to your environment. Make yourself comfortable first. Once you’re comfortable, everything else flows naturally. Working feels good, and socializing feels good, too.”
“No matter how smart or how much of a genius we are, in this world, we must master three things: first, hard skills; second, soft skills; and third, attitude,” Mas Maul explained to the participants.
Furthermore, Dian Kusuma, commonly referred to as Mba Dian, shared her insights regarding adaptation and how to navigate the subsequent processes in a career.
“While you still hold the status of a student—which, as I mentioned earlier, is a privilege—use it to explore as much as possible. This includes joining organizations and the like, which are experiences you can’t always easily access once you become an employee or a full-time worker.”
“For the first 3 months, a new employee or worker is in the observe and learn phase. Take a look at the unwritten rules in that workplace. Because those aren’t taught in college; they aren’t on your syllabus.”
“AI can help us think more critically, and it can help us think analytically… but AI cannot communicate the way we do. And that human connection is exactly what we must continuously hone,” Mba Dian remarked.

By hosting these Alumni Talks, the UMS Faculty of Psychology holds high hopes that all prospective graduates will be fully prepared and resilient in responding to the fast-paced dynamics of the professional world. They are expected not only to implement their academic knowledge but also to provide tangible dedication and contributions to society, all while continuing to carry the good name of their alma mater.
