Taking on Professional Duties: UMS 2nd Cohort of Professional Psychology Students Officially Sworn In

SURAKARTA – The Professional Psychology Education Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to producing professional mental health practitioners. This milestone was marked by the solemn Psychologist Professional Oath-Taking Ceremony for its second cohort (Batch II), held at the Arcadia Ballroom, The Alana Hotel & Convention Center Solo, on Saturday (May 2).

This momentous event was attended by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI), Dr. Andik Matulessy, M.Si., Psychologist. The presence of faculty executives, lecturers, invited guests, along with the parents and guardians of the graduates, filled the venue with a profound sense of emotion and pride. The presence of these families served as a beautiful symbol of their unwavering support throughout the graduates’ long journey in completing their professional studies.

The ceremony proceeded smoothly and reached its pinnacle as the participants took their professional oath. Resoundingly, they pledged their commitment to adhere to the code of ethics, uphold the highest standards of integrity, and strictly maintain client confidentiality in all forms of psychological services they will soon provide to the public.

More than merely a ceremonial conclusion to their academic journey, this professional oath marks the starting point of their public service. These newly inaugurated psychologists now bear the mandate to apply their scientific knowledge responsibly. They are called to step into the community equipped with deep empathy, proven competence, and genuine dedication to address the dynamic mental health needs of the public.

Through this inauguration, UMS has once again proven its consistency in producing exceptional psychology practitioners with a strong humanistic character.
